What's the coolest is that this is NOT a public relations gimmick. There are simply two women in charge of two spacecraft at the same time, right now, in fact. Mark it down in the history books, kiddies, and you were here to witness it.

I just watched them greeting each other live as the crew of Discovery came through the hatch to the ISS. Many smiles, laughter, hugs all around. Funny how many cameras came out, then again if I were up there, I'd bring a camera too.
Hey, Eileen Collins is from Elmira NY (the first female shuttle commander). Almost a hometown gal. Lucky you to have a visit from Sally Ride! _________________ Chuck: I don't know anything about you since you were nine.

I hate that this slogan was used to sell cigarettes, because it's so apt:
"We've come a long way, baby." _________________ Chuck: I don't know anything about you since you were nine.
