CL--I say this with all respect--
And with respect for all--
Spring has come and new hope rises in every soul.

Same dif, as far as I'm concerned.
Happy Easter to those who celebrate; a belated equinox, Happy Passover, Happy Chocolate Bunny, etc., to those who celebrate the coming of new life in other ways.
We ushered in spring with fairly serious snow. _________________ “I don't consider myself a pessimist. I think of a pessimist as someone who is waiting for it to rain. And I feel soaked to the skin.” Leonard Cohen

WG and Bette,
Thanks for the good wishes.
In whatever way, for whatever reason, I hope that you feel the joy this morning.
As you know, I don't seek to convert anyone from their belief, but I also won't shrink from sharing mine, and its effect on me.
Peace to all. |

A happy reminder of the "Christian" in ChristianLib! _________________ Chuck: I don't know anything about you since you were nine.

I'm late to the conversation, but that bit needed repeating.
Several times, from all perspectives.
If we could all see the beauty in that, this would be a much better world!
Happy Belated Easter, CL (and Christians). _________________ "Disbelief in magic can force a poor soul into believing in government and business. " --Tom Robbins |

For those who don't know, one of my fav quotes ever about evangelism comes from our very own CL:
"We Christians should be ashamed that our lives are not lived such as to be beacons that beckon the un-religious. In other words, it is not your failure to believe, it is my failure to live a life you would find enticing." _________________ “I don't consider myself a pessimist. My favorite quote about evangelism comes straight from the man himself:
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you travel around on sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves."
Sounds like a lot of people I know... _________________

Well, Happy Easter!
I revived an old family tradition this Easter. I grew up near Buffalo, NY, in an area dominated by Polish Catholics (including my family).
Having fasted to some extent or another through Lent, Easter ended up a big food holiday. This started right at breakfast, where we would eat out of a basket of food that had been prepared ahead of time and taken to the church and blessed (sprinkled with holy water) by the priest. The food was simple fare, but very, very rich. Besides colored hardboiled Easter eggs, we typically had ham, placek (a Polish coffee cake or sweet bread), cheesecake, pastries, etc., and we would eat this for breakfast & lunch on Easter day.
Last night I tried my hand at making placek. It came out pretty good:
I took it to our church this morning as part of a different tradition; in the Presbyterian Church I now belong to, we have an Easter brunch in place of Sunday school (in between the early and late services). So I shared the placek with a bunch of non-Polish non-Catholic friends. _________________
