Why is America so violent as compared to Canada when they watch the same movies, play the same games, etc.?
It's the American media's portrayal of urban youth as all being thugs.

Man a lot of people are here on this board from Canada!

What is up with that?

When did they get the internet?

Do their computers run off of ice cubes like their cold fusion power generators?

Anyways, I am off to go celebrate NYE.

Laters!

I can not really explain why, but when the US gained its independence from Britain we went in diferent directions socially and economically? We have a lot fewer people spread over a larger land mass, and we have been longer in getting established. Maybe because they have a diferent culture?

The truth is I really don't know. I would like to see a study or something that explains it.

Because culturally we define ourselves as "not American". Means we have to prove it by hanging out with Americans. Wink

Are we making you nervous? Like we are looking over your shoulder and judging you? How's that working for ya?

Canadians are expending too much energy trying to keep warm in the winter, which is most of the year in Canada. There's nothing left over for being violent.

There's just enough left over to make it to a Barenaked Ladies concert a couple times a year.

Speaking of your best Canadian export, BNL has made a children's album!

YouTube vid of a live performance of "Polliwog in a Bog", one of the best songs (IMO) off the new album "Snacktime".

I like to think that, having far more in common with us Brits, the Canadians have inculated the same culture of politeness and civility.

*ducks*

(the preceding should be read as entirely tongue in cheek)
