I hope that I don't need to explain to you guys that we don't steal babies.

And finally, there's this. Tourists happily enjoying the beach while the dead bodies of two Roma girls (who I'm fairly sure were murdered) lie just feet away. Why can I be fairly sure they were murdered? Because our hygene and modesty laws forbid exposing one's lower body to strangers. That's why you always see Roma women in long skirts or trousers and why you will never see a Roma man in shorts. To us, it would be like taking a piss on the open street, it's just not done. Hopefully, when the other two girls recover (they survived), they can shed some light on the matter. Not that I believe the Italian authorities will do anything but if the girls were attacked, the clan will deal with it:

I'm actually crying here. If you ever wondered why Roma don't want to be part of the system, why we tend to distrust gadje, it's because of shit like this. You scare the piss out of us because we can never be sure when the gadje are going to turn on us again. We're not cowards (never, ever call a Roma a coward unless you want to fight), we endure but you scare us because so often, you want us to be enemies.

Roma have often been compared to rats. It's never Roma who do this because to us, that's a compliment, there is much to admire about rats. Rats are quick and subtle, they are highly intelligent, usually unseen and above all else, they survive, we survive.
